Perfect movies to watch on Halloween

0

Do you like horror movies but can’t live without science fiction? No problem. We have combined our two favorite movie genres for Halloween with a selection of films ideal for these days. Ready?

Annihilation (2008)

This 2008 film stars Lena (Natalie Portman), a biologist and former soldier who is recruited for a somewhat special mission: a meteorite that hits the Earth has created an unusual zone of mutated plants and animals. What is it? An expedition in which Lena participates, she goes to find out. Horror and holograms in equal measure.

Final Horizon (1997)

Year 2047. A spaceship called Event Horizo n has mysteriously disappeared. Suddenly, it reappears in an equally enigmatic way orbiting the planet Neptune. Another ship comes to the rescue of which, apparently, after passing through a black hole, has broken the boundaries of space-time. What will we find apart from terror? An interesting interpretation on multiple universes (and some special effects that have not aged too well, all be said).

The Thing (1982)

There can’t be a Halloween without a movie as iconic as La Cosa / The Thing. Directed by John Carpenter and with Kurt Russell as the team’s pilot, this film shows us the appearance of a parasitic extraterrestrial life form capable of copying any living organism . You better not watch the movie alone …

Alien (1979)

Another classic of the science fiction and horror genre. Alien: The Eighth Passenger, Ridley Scott’s masterpiece will keep its almost two hours long in suspense, in the presence of a horrible extraterrestrial creature that ends up inside the spaceship baptized as USCSS Nostromo and supervised by the Mother AI. Do any of them survive?

War of the Worlds (2005)

Starring Tom Cruise and directed by Steven Spielberg, it is an adaptation of the iconic science fiction novel written by Herbert George Wells and published in 1898, which narrates a Martian invasion by means of extraterrestrial machines that annihilate the population with a lightning strike . Although it does not have the charm of the 1953 film, it does have a lot of action for those looking for more adrenaline.

The Fly (1986)

We continue with another classic of science fiction and horror. Starring a successful Jeff Goldblum, we see what happens to a scientist when he experiments with himself in a complex teleportation project and, coincidentally, a fly sneaks in during the experiment. The physical principle behind teleportation is quantum entanglement , which Albert Einstein once called “spooky action at a distance.”

A Quiet Place (2018)

We could also include the second part, released in 2021. In these two films, some blind and horrifying aliens have descended to Earth. But despite not seeing, they have an extraordinary sense of hearing. They use this sense to hunt humans who are already on the brink of extinction. The film centers on a couple and their children, one of whom is deaf, who must fight to survive. Will they get it?
