Although these are the last days of the course and the name of the post-season test itself indicates it, the two days that take place this Tuesday and Wednesday after the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP also have many new features.

In the first of the two days of testing at Yas Marina, the young drivers of the teams and the regulars of the World Cup met. In addition, three names premiered colors: Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou make their debut as Alfa Romeo drivers and George Russell, although he already played a grand prix with them in 2020, is already starting his career as Mercedes driver.
Among the ‘rookies’ (despite the fact that several already know what it’s like to drive a Formula 1) stands out the Mexican from McLaren, Pato O’Ward , who receives this opportunity as a reward for having won at least one race with the team in the season 2021 IndyCar.
In addition, these tests have brought together three recent champions on the track. On the one hand, Oscar Piastri, the new Formula 2 champion, has started his development work with Alpine , a team for which he will be a reserve driver in 2022. On the other, Max Verstappen puts aside the celebrations of the F1 World Cup and gets at the controls of the adapted RB16B . Although he does, yes, with the number 33 with which he was crowned last Sunday, before putting on the #1 in the car next year. And finally, Nyck de Vries, the first Formula E world champion, with Mercedes .
We remember that the young drivers drive the cars that have contested the 2021 F1 season, while the starters have to use the adapted single-seaters because they are running with the 18-inch Pirelli tires that the Formula 1 will wear in 2022.
Williams, the only team not to have a mulete (car to retrofit) available, only took to the track with young Formula 3 driver Logan Sargeant .
