A few years ago, Formula 1 prohibited drivers from changing the design of their helmets during the same season to avoid identity confusion, but that changed several years ago and since then the drivers have once again given freedom to their imagination and there are many grand prix that see some drivers wear a new helmet, either for a personal reason or for something more general.

On this occasion and taking advantage of one of the weekends that makes the helmet of an F1 driver stand out the most due to the night and the lights on the Marina Bay track, the Spanish Alpine driver revealed that he would wear a different helmet than his usual one for a very specific reason.

Fernando Alonso, together with the main sponsor of the French team, have designed a special helmet that defends one of the great objectives of BWT , with the already famous motto of “changing the world sip by sip” of the Austrian company that manufactures wastewater treatment systems. waters.

Said helmet will maintain the usual essence of the Asturian pilot, but will include the messages that BWT promotes throughout the world to try to improve the world and, above all, life in some of the most disadvantaged areas.

Through his social networks, Alonso presented said helmet with his representative dark blue and light blue colors, adding the white and pink of the Alpine sponsor on the back and including a message that the pilot himself described as “important”.

This is how Alonso explained the reason for his special helmet for the 2022 F1 Singapore GP

“Unfortunately, people, especially children, still have to walk very long distances to bring water to their families. Children should be allowed to go to school, instead of having to fetch water. The goal is to build “Over 1000 wells. No one should have to walk more than 150 meters to get to a well. I’m happy and proud to support such an amazing project. So let’s work together to build as many wells as possible.”
