During his last weekend as a MotoGP rider, Valentino Rossi received numerous tributes in Valencia. However, one of the most special was that of the riders from his Academy, who wanted to race this Sunday with replicas of the most emblematic helmets of his career.
Each of them wore an emblematic design from the #46 race, a surprise designed by Andrea Migno.
In Moto3 , Migno chose the one from the 2001 season, with which he won the 500cc title. Niccolò Antoneli wore the special Laguna Seca 2005 helmet, while Alberto Surra wore the 2020 SoleLuna .
In Moto2 , Marco Bezzecchi wore the version with which Rossi won the 2003, 2004 and 2005 titles. His teammate, Celestino Vietti, wore the one from the 2005 Sepang winter test, and Stefano Manzi the one from his debut season in 1996 ( 125cc).
Pecco Bagnaia won the MotoGP race with the famous 2004 helmet with the message “Che spettacolo” that he used after being crowned champion for the first time with Yamaha in 2004. His brother, Luca Marini chose the one from the five continents of 2008, the year of his eighth and penultimate title. Franco Morbidelli chose the special Imola 1999 design with the iconic Peace&Love.
