Places to play poker in Las Vegas

If you are looking for a Las Vegas poker room where you can win some money, here are a few that I have enjoyed and been lucky. Obviously, the Las Vegas poker rooms that I am most used to are the ones that I have won the most often. However, these are some of my suggestions based on a little more than my actual earning potential on any given day.

Mandalay Bay Poker Room – I will normally play $ 100 or $ 200 No Limit Buy-in at Mandalay Bay. I only play here in the mornings, usually after 8 a.m., but before 10 a.m. This poker room is cold, so be sure to bring a sweater. Look around you, the boys dressed for the occasion will rob you blind.
Most of the players are solid, but what you get here on most weekday mornings are those guys who are here for a convention but want to chime in before heading to the convention center. They play loose and reckless.

It’s not difficult to take advantage of these types if you have the patience to search for them. Usually they are what I like to call a “rush call station.” They want to make a few bucks so bad, just to have something to brag about to their co-workers, who play weak hands and call or raise little. and middle pairs.
Solid players will allow you to steal a few pots, but they will surprise you when you put too much trust in their money. There is an old man there, bald, almost always wearing a turtleneck who seems to always have the cards.

He’s caught me so well that I practically open his wallet.

Bottom line at Mandalay Bay poker room : you can win some money at the no limit tables if you have a little patience and realize that most of these players are solid. Pick and choose your prey and you should easily duplicate it.

Bellagio Poker Room – This place is luxurious. It has been renovated and feels like a lot of money. If you’re feeling lucky, get there early to play on a satellite for the daily tournament. Sunday to Thursday the satellite buy is $ 130, on the weekends the price doubles and the sharks come out so not that great. These satellites pay the first two for the afternoon tournament at 2PM. It is a buy-in of $ 500 but you enter winning the satellite. They start at 9AM. Single table satellites are pretty straightforward here, just be patient and don’t go after the low extraction percentage.

I have been quite successful in getting to the top two on these single table satellites. My problem arises when I lose my patience in the afternoon tournaments.
I haven’t played No Limit at Bellagio because there are a lot of players there with money to spend, in other words you probably won’t push someone out of the pot easily. But I have played 4-8 and 8-16 with some success. Solid players can always be found here and you will rarely be hit by a silly ball that is 7-2 offside. Lower bound tables are hard to find here on weekends.

Simply put in the Bellagio poker room: simple, unless you have led some people to another poker room, you should only consider the Bellagio poker room if you want to play a tournament high limit. The regular tables include too many good players, with money, which diminishes your chance of winning some money. You will have fun, but earning extra money will be more difficult.

Monte Carlo Poker Room – The room here is simple and on weekends the wait can be very long. I like this place because the limits are generally lower than in the bigger places in the city. Players of the afternoon range from the guy who’s been watching too much poker on TV to the guy who knows how to steal money from your stack while smiling at him. I play 2-4 or 3-6 here often enough to earn money to pay for dinner. The weekend crowd drinks enough to call just about anything and they usually suck you off.

Beware of alcohol drinkers at the Monte Carlo. However, due to the alcohol factor you can earn quite a bit of money.

In a nutshell in the Monte Carlo poker room : if you are staying at the Monte Carlo, it is very convenient to get out of bed and walk around and play a few hands. If you are looking to play at night, you may have to wait a while because they don’t have as many tables as in other places. They have a decent $ 30 tournament every Monday through Friday morning.

MGM Grand Poker Room : This room is new and is in the middle of the casino. With everything going on around you, you can get a little anxious and want to play a lot of hands. The secret here is the drunken tourist factor. Play here late at night and you can almost always get the ‘call station drunk with money to spend’. You can make some money at the MGM Grand because the quality of the players is definitely a notch below the Bellagio and Mandalay Bay. They broadcast a lot of games, so the wait is not that bad and you will always find a first timer on your table.

Bottom line in the MGM Grand Poker room : start counting your cash while keeping an eye on the guy who’s had too much to drink.

When you leave the poker room and need a way to recover from bad shots, check out the LINQ or find something to do on our giant list of 88 things to do in Las Vegas.

Binion poker room

Bottom Line at Binion’s : Play the $ 50 tournaments that run three times a day. They usually get around 6 tables and the pot gets pretty healthy. If you are going to play poker in Las Vegas, there is no way you will miss Binion’s.

Wynn Poker RoomHigh-end poker room with people who have money to spend. You might want to check it out, but keep an eye out for the guy with the cleat in his pants who will call out just about anything.

Simply put in the Wynn poker room: Go to the Parasol Down bar and take drinks and avoid stress of playing at a table with a guy who calls all in rags and then wins.
