The era of SUVs is here to stay, as well as that of zero-emission engines. In fact, the American manufacturer Ford, in search of that giant step, has announced a very ambitious plan. It will introduce three new passenger vehicles and four new commercial vehicles in Europe before 2024, and aims to achieve carbon neutrality in all vehicle sales and in all manufacturing, logistics and supplier facilities in Europe by 2035. “I am delighted to “To see the pace of change in Europe, challenging our entire industry to build better, cleaner and more digital vehicles. Ford is going all-in and moving fast to meet demand in Europe and around the world,” said Jim Farley , president and CEO of Ford, during the announcement of its future strategy. “This is why we created the Ford Model e, which allows us to move at start-up speed to build electric vehicles that people love and offer connectivity services unique to Ford and that are built with the level of engineering and Ford’s own safety,” he added.

With this expanded range of passenger and commercial vehicles, Ford expects its annual electric vehicle sales in Europe to exceed 600,000 units by 2026, and more than 2 million electric vehicles globally by 2026. “Our march towards an all-electric future is an absolute necessity for Ford to meet the mobility needs of a changing Europe,” said Stuart Rowley , President of Ford of Europe. “But it is also about the pressing need to take better care of our planet, making a positive contribution to society and reducing emissions in line with the Paris Climate Agreement.”

At the moment it already has a wide range of electrified models in its portfolio, from passenger cars such as the plug-in hybrid Kuga, the plug-in hybrid Explorer, the 100% electric Mustang Mach-E and the Mach-E GT electric supercar; to commercial vehicles. Moreover, in the specific case of commercial vehicles, the electrification commitment is advanced to 2024, the year in which the entire range of vehicles will have the ability to move with zero emissions , either with PHEV technologies, or 100% electric. We tell you a little more about each of these models.
