Pol Espargaró hopes for a positive restart on a track that he is good at

After five weeks of summer break, the MotoGP World Championship starts again this weekend at Silverstone, the first of the last nine races of the season.

For Pol Espargaró, who has suffered tremendously in the first part of the course, the summer holidays have served to completely recover from the very strong blow he suffered in Germany, in the penultimate race before the summer, a fall that caused an injury to his the ribs that, finally, prevented him from contesting the Assen race, at the end of June.

“The rest has been good for me, I have been able to recover from the rib injury that I did in Germany and I have returned to training”, explains the Catalan rider in the British qualifying round.

Until the podium achieved in Emilia Romagna last year, that of his debut with Honda, Espargaró’s best result in 2022 was, precisely, fifth place in the British Grand Prix.

“Last year we had a great weekend at Silverstone and I’m working hard to do it again, but there’s still a lot to do,” explains Espargaró.

“It’s a track to which we adapted very well last year, so I hope to start the second half of the season better than the last few races,” he adds, referring to the difficulties this course has had in driving the RC213V .

Espargaró, who almost certainly will not race next season with Honda, returning to the KTM discipline to do so with Tech3, now sets the goal of finishing the season in the best possible way.

“It’s been a good vacation, but now I’m focused on competing again,” says the boy from Granollers .
