Pol Espargaró: "Marc is capable of winning here without being at his best level"

After some winter tests to frame, mounted on a motorcycle that gave him much better feelings than last year, the Honda rider started the season, in Qatar, brilliantly, with a podium, and after leading most of the Test.

Losail’s success was followed by the debacle at Mandalika (he finished 12th), the fretboard brand suffered tremendously with the new rear shell that Michelin moved to Indonesia. Last Sunday, in Argentina, Espargaró regained his spirit and confidence until he crashed midway through the race, while he was running fourth.

At this point, the youngest of the brothers from Granollers (Barcelona) has no doubt that he will be able to straighten his course this weekend in Austin, where, in addition, he will once again have the presence of Marc Márquez on the other side of the workshop.

“I have good expectations; I like the track. We have some tires that we know, Marc is back and he’s a master here. I’m very happy that he’s back; I knew he was going to try for sure,” agreed Espargaró, who will logically take into account what does the #93 do, given the superiority that the Cervera (Lleida) always showed on this stage: “Marc is capable of winning here despite not being at his best level. He is the reference rider”.

The #44 contract with Honda expires at the end of 2022 and obviously its place is one of the most coveted on the grid. The Japanese manufacturer has not yet moved in any way, but Espargaró is convinced that he has in his hands the possibility of continuing in his current team.

“I haven’t talked to Honda about my future yet. It’s true that there are rumors of possible candidates [to take his place]. I’m very happy with Honda and I think Honda is happy with me too.”

“And at the moment I’m faster than those pilots who say they want my position. I think that the renewal will gradually fall under its own weight; I’m not worried”, Espargaró deepened, launching a message for sailors.

“Now we are at a time when the bikes must fit very well with the riding style of the riders. Depending on which movement can endanger your career, despite the fact that it may seem that the change is for the better”, clinched the Spanish.
