Police murder: Arrest warrant against second man lifted

Free again: First, the arrest warrant against a 32-year-old from Saarland on suspicion of murder was lifted, now also for poaching.

Kaiserslautern – The accomplice of the suspected police officer killer von Kusel is free again. The public prosecutor’s office in Kaiserslautern announced on Wednesday that the arrest warrant against the 32-year-old for poaching had been lifted.

The district court of Kaiserslautern had upheld a complaint by the defense: There was no risk of the man escaping and therefore no longer any reason for detention.

A good week ago, the arrest warrant against the 32-year-old from Saarland on suspicion of murder was lifted due to new findings at the scene of the crime – and a new arrest warrant was issued against him immediately for commercial poaching and attempted evasion of criminal prosecution. His defense attorney described the fact that the man had to remain in custody as a “scandal”.

On January 31, a police commissioner (29) and a 24-year-old police officer were shot dead during a vehicle check near Kusel (West Palatinate). Two men were then arrested in Saarland. According to the new findings, a 38-year-old German is accused of the two murders. He is said to have fired five shots at the victims alone – presumably to cover up previous poaching. The act had caused nationwide horror. dpa
