Porsche registers a new brand related to Formula 1

After a long period of speculation, Porsche’s arrival in Formula 1 seems to be getting closer to becoming a reality. For a few months, the Volkswagen board of directors recognized that the directors of Red Bull, the structure with which the German manufacturer will finally be associated, were negotiating and talking openly about it.

But the clues continue to flourish here and there to convince the last doubters, while the announcement is constantly postponed pending the announcement of the engine regulations for 2026, one of the main keys for the arrival of Porsche and Audi to the Formula 1.

Although the purchase of 50% of Red Bull Technology had been revealed by official documents published in Morocco, this time it is about documents published in Germany itself.

Specifically, on Monday it was revealed that Porsche had filed a trademark application with the German Patent and Trademark Office: “F1nally”, a play on words that combined “F1” and “finally”.

If the German marque were to officially return to motorsport’s top flight, it would be for the first time since 1991, when the manufacturer managed the Footwork engine.

Referring to the existence of behind-the-scenes paperwork (before this new track) and despite the lack of an official announcement, Red Bull consultant Helmut Marko had this to say in an exclusive interview with Motorsport.com: “The The situation is quite simple. The decision of the VW board is that if the engine technical regulations meet their criteria, then they will enter Formula 1.”

“It’s mainly about cost limitation, sustainability, fuel, zero emissions and equal opportunity as a newcomer to the category, with more possibilities in terms of test benches etc.”

“But in purely formal terms, this new regulation does not yet exist as such. The FIA President is expected to submit it to an email vote soon. Only then will things be officially put in place .” Bull .
