The 2023 MotoGP season will start on March 26 and will do so at the Portimao racetrack , which will take over from Qatar, which in mid-May announced a remodeling that will last until well into the season, which makes it impossible for it to be, as It is usual, the scene of the start of the championship.

While waiting to know the preparation of the 2023 MotoGP calendar, the promoters of the championship announced the date and the circuit where the next course will begin, as well as the last tests of the preseason.

For the first time since 2006 the World Cup will start in Europe, something that has only happened three times in the last three decades. It will also be the first time that Portugal hosts the first race of the year.

The FIM also reports that there will be official pre-season tests in Portimao during the weeks prior to the Grand Prix, the dates of which will be confirmed shortly.

The Qatar Grand Prix entered the MotoGP calendar in 2004, in 2007 it became the first race on the calendar, and in 2008 the first in motor sport history to be held at night under floodlights. The Arab country signed an extension of the contract to continue on the calendar and do it as the first race, however some works have forced this provisional modification.

“The Losail International Circuit will undergo an extensive renovation and refurbishment of the paddock area and circuit facilities by 2023. The track is already confirmed on the MotoGP calendar until at least 2031,” it was explained in May.

The forecast is that the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix will take place in the final part of the season.
