Prost charges Alpine F1 and explains his departure from the team

In recent days, the French team Alpine, belonging to the Renault group, has made a series of changes in its management with departures such as that of Marcin Budkowski, who worked as executive director, and that of the four-time world champion Alain Prost , who was as a consultant to the team, a position he officially ceased to hold this Monday.

The departure of both has left a board made up of CEO Laurent Rossi and Davide Brivio , the man who came from the Suzuki MotoGP team and who in 2021 experienced a season of adaptation. But this seems to be temporary, since everything points to a possible arrival of Otmar Szafnauer, former sports director of Aston Martin.

However, Prost ‘s departure from Alpine does not appear to have been amicable. The multiple French champion took over the non-executive role in mid-2019 when the team was still competing in Formula 1 under the Renault banner , taking on a role that was similar to that held by Niki Lauda at Mercedes.

Through a post on his Instagram account, Alain Prost assured that Alpine ‘s announcement was not made as agreed and explained the reason why he probably did not renew his annual agreement with the Formula 1 team for the 2022 season.

“I am very disappointed in how this news has been announced today!” The Frenchman wrote on his social networks.

“We came to an agreement that we would announce it together! There has been no respect, I’m sorry.”

“I rejected the offer made to me in Abu Dhabi for the 2022 season for a personal reason and I was right!”

Prost came to the team when the management of the team was in the hands of Cyril Abiteboul , who left the company at the beginning of 2021 when it was rumored that he would occupy an important position in Alpine that he ultimately did not occupy.
