Puig warns: "Marc Márquez needs to go step by step"

After announcing his indefinite leave, Marc Márquez is in a rehabilitation process with the aim of fully recovering mobility and confidence in his humerus. The Cervera rider did not have his best start in 2022, and, after the string of crashes, the #93 decided to bet on his physical condition, temporarily retiring from the competition.

In this way, Marc Márquez underwent a fourth operation due to the excessive rotation of his humerus. In an interview granted to the official team, Alberto Puig confirmed that the operation went well. However, he added that the Catalan will follow the doctor’s instructions at all costs.

“They will assess the situation every two to three weeks or so. The priority now is bone healing and avoiding any major complications,” he said.

“We are very pleased that he is back home and can begin to think about the recovery of his right humerus. It is good that he is able to return home from the hospital soon, limiting the time away from home.”

This situation will require a regular visit by the Spanish rider to the doctor to confirm progress and check the status of his humerus. In this way, it is expected that, approximately, Márquez will have to undergo a medical check-up every two or three weeks.

“The doctor has said that Marc [Márquez] has to go step by step, with regular check-ups together with Dr. Samuel Antuña in Spain. Both medical teams are collaborating closely, and this is very important,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the Repsol Honda Team is preparing to continue the course of the European round with the arrival of the appointment at the Sachsenring. The golden wing garage will arrive at the German circuit after a test day at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in which several parts were tested, including Marc Márquez’s chassis and swingarm.

This responsibility fell into the hands of his brother, Alex Márquez, who will accompany the #93 in his rehabilitation process as a brother and factory partner in the Honda satellite team, LCR.
