At a school in Finnentrop, two young people are believed to have been critically injured by a knife attack. In the meantime, both of them have survived the very worst.

Finnentrop (dpa) – Two students from a comprehensive school in the Sauerland who were seriously injured by stings are no longer in mortal danger.

Both had been operated on, said a police spokesman in the Olpe district. “It currently looks like the two students are out of danger”. Yesterday afternoon three students were injured by stitches at a comprehensive school in Finnentrop, two of them life-threatening. According to initial findings, two other students are suspect. The background is unclear.

All five people are male and between 16 and 17 years old, said the police spokesman. The two suspects were provisionally arrested. It was initially unknown whether they had commented on the incident. Presumably a knife was the murder weapon. A homicide squad is investigating. The police referred to the responsible public prosecutor’s office in Siegen for further information.

The school management was dismayed in a message on the school’s website. “This incident shook us all deeply and created uncertainty,” wrote the headmaster. In school, you will not simply go back to the agenda. Schoolchildren and teachers are offered support to come to terms with what they have experienced. According to the school management, school social workers and a counseling teacher are available for discussions. In the course of the morning three employees of the school psychological service of the Olpe district should join them.
