The Frenchman leads the MotoGP World Championship with a 52-point advantage over his immediate pursuer, Pecco Bagnaia, which with three races remaining in the championship, gives him clear mathematical chances of reaching his first world championship title this very end. week in Misano.

The Yamaha rider arrives in an enviable position at this penultimate round of the year thanks, in part, to a hard-fought second place in the last race, held in the United States.

“Austin was really tough but rewarding. That second place was great for the championship, especially since we only have three grands prix left”, explains the Frenchman, who never had a chance to dispute the victory over Marc Márquez in Austin.

Although Fabio Quartararo has so far remained faithful to the philosophy of going race by race, the Yamaha rider admits in the run-up to the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix that he will make changes to his approach to racing.

“For this final part of the competition, my way of thinking has changed a bit,” he explains. “Last time we were in Misano, I was racing for the win and not thinking about the championship at all,” he says.

“Of course, I will do my best as always to get the best possible result this weekend, because that is what I enjoy the most, but I will try to be smart about it”, argues the boy from the Côte d’Azur .

The team manager, Massimo Meregalli , is instead committed to maintaining the same philosophy that has brought them to this position.

“This is a crucial point of the season, both for Fabio and for the team and Yamaha, but we will treat it as a ‘normal GP weekend’. With this I mean that we will give everything in each session and we will work together as a team”, Meregalli ditches.
