Despite moving up to the top drawer, Fabio Quartararo says goodbye to a difficult weekend for the tuning fork garage. Starting from fifth on the grid at the Italian Grand Prix, the Frenchman immediately entered the battle for the podium, a fight that included Sunday leader Pecco Bagnaia.

For the Frenchman, Mugello has not been just another race, but the best of his sporting career.

“I started the race without confidence and it went well. From the beginning I was able to brake very hard, so I knew I could be super fast, and that’s what happened,” El Diablo introduced after finishing the race.

“Before the race, honestly, I thought I was out of the top five. I didn’t feel good on the bike and in the race we started with the same base as always. I gave it my all, I got ahead. I don’t know how I did it,” he confessed .

“I lost the front, I lost the rear and I still managed to overtake, so honestly it was the best race I’ve ever done,” added the Frenchman, visibly happy with the result on Italian soil. “I consider it a magnificent race. I don’t think I could have done better, but it’s a really good feeling to be able to finish on a high note, especially on a weekend like this.”

With the second place achieved in Mugello, Fabio Quartararo formalizes his dominance in MotoGP, with an eight-point advantage over Aleix Espargaró, despite the difficulties he has had to achieve this result in the race.

“Honestly, it’s like a win. I really pushed myself to the limit. After a while, I told myself that I have to calm down a bit because I was really over the limit, but I still managed to have a really good race. Honestly, I’m very happy,” insisted the Frenchman.
