Quartararo: “Márquez is an example and I want to learn from him”

The Honda rider ended the longest drought in its history with a victory at the Sachsenring that recalled the best version of the eight-time world champion. Márquez took the lead in the first lap and did an exercise in dominance to achieve victory number 83 in his record.

The #93 , visibly moved, was accompanied on the podium by Miguel Oliveira and Fabio Quartararo, who did not hesitate to congratulate him and was happy to have him back among the best.

“When you miss a race it’s hard. One year, with difficult operations, doing what you have done today knowing the difficulties of Honda, I take my hat off because it is very big and I want to congratulate you again,” El Diablo said after the race.

The French did not hesitate to admit that he wants to continue learning Spanish.

“I’m learning and taking steps. I have more and more experience. I learn from the best. I have the example of Marc. He was already missing. I’m glad he’s here. I want to learn from someone like him,” he said.

The Yamaha rider had to settle for third place which, however, allows him to move up to increase his lead in the championship.

“The first thing we were clear about with the team was that we had a good pace, but not to win. The goal was to try to stay ahead of the Ducati and that’s what we did. This podium is gold. I think I had never finished in the top 10 here. Third is a dream”, commented.

“I wanted to overtake people because I had the pace, but overtaking was impossible. When I saw the drops I thought of Le Mans and attacking. I had very powerful bikes in front of me and overtaking them is not easy. I’ve taken my time, I wanted to manage the tires well and when I overtook Jack [Miller] it was time,” he explained about his career.
