Quartararo wants to test the Mercedes of F1

Quartararo, one of the MotoGP riders who has been to the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi this weekend to watch the last race of the F1 season, already visited the Mercedes team headquarters in Brackley last August . There, he also had the opportunity to test his simulator.

El Diablo , which shares Monster Energy sponsorship with the German team, has been in contact with them for several years. In 2019, he had the opportunity to meet Lewis Hamilton when the Englishman visited the MotoGP paddock at the Qatar GP, where they also exchanged helmets.

Quartararo’s fondness for F1 is well known, having also met other drivers such as Daniel Ricciardo, Charles Leclerc or Pierre Gasly. Now he wants to go one step further and taking advantage of his visit to the Emirates circuit, he has asked Mercedes to test one of their single-seaters.

“I’m putting a lot of pressure on Mercedes to test one of their cars,” he told Sky. “When I tried the simulator before Spa it went poorly, I hope to be able to try it next year.”

The Frenchman is also clear about who he supports in the fight for the title between Hamilton and Max Verstappen: “This weekend I will support Lewis, since I know him a little better. He has all the experience possible to handle this guy of emotions, he has already won seven world championships.

Valentino Rossi already tested the 2017 Mercedes W08 two years ago in Valencia, as part of a swap promoted by Monster where Lewis Hamilton jumped on the Italian’s Yamaha M1. Previously, the Briton also did a test in Jerez with the WorldSBK R1.

Other MotoGP riders who have tried an F1 in recent years are Marc Márquez and Dani Pedrosa – they rode in June 2018 with the Toro Rosso at the Red Bull Ring – or Jorge Lorenzo, who in October 2016 also did a test with the Mercedes W05 on the Silverstone track. We will see if Mercedes agrees to Quartararo joining this list of privileged.
