After months at Windsor Castle, Queen Elizabeth made her way to Sandringham on an important mission. Helicopter to Norfolk.

Norfolk – The 95-year-old monarch has now traveled to Sandringham by helicopter. Traditionally, Queen Elizabeth II would have spent Christmas and New Year there, but the current Corona situation had made her cautious. Actually, the queen will stay in the tranquil county until February 6th. The Queen is finally paying a visit to Sandringham House for two reasons.*

A series of unforeseeable events had thrown the whole royal planning upside down. Queen Elizabeth II* decided to cancel everything and stayed in Windsor. Had it not been for the pandemic, the monarch traditionally would have stayed in Norfolk until at least February 6, to commemorate the anniversary of the death of her father King George VI. (56, † 1952). It is also the date of her accession to the throne and proclamation as monarch. The Queen usually spends this memorable day reclusively indoors.

Although there are some arguments against it, the Queen apparently did not want to forego this tradition and boarded the helicopter. She could use a moment of contemplation. In the last few months of the year, the regent had largely withdrawn from the public eye due to health problems. Last October, the otherwise spry regent was even seen walking with a cane for the first time since 2003.

Shortly thereafter, it was reported that she had been advised to give up horseback riding, one of her favorite hobbies*. At the end of October, after a night in the hospital, she was ordered to take a long break with “light desk work”. She only celebrated Christmas with her son Prince Charles* (73) and his wife Camilla* (74) in a small group.

The new year also started with a lot of trouble, which required a great deal of sensitivity from her. Prince Andrew (61) was charged and she had to revoke all titles and honors* from her second son. The queen is more than happy to have a little time for herself, especially since it was the first turn of the year without her beloved husband Prince Philip * (99, † 2021). The death of the Duke of Edinburgh may have changed her life forever. * 24royal.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
