Copenhagen – The compatriots of Queen Margrethe II (81) can expect an entertaining history lesson that has never existed before. The preparations for the first musical about the Danish monarch are in full swing!
As the simple title “Margrethe” already suggests, none other than Denmark’s current head of state is at the center of the musical theatre. The play will be performed on the occasion of Queen Margrethe’s 50th anniversary of the throne, which she only celebrated on a small scale a few days ago due to the corona.

The musical is produced by Mikkel Rønnow (48), Thomas Høg, Lasse Aagaard (54) and Sune Svanekier (54) are responsible for the music and dialogue. A team of 18 musicians and 24 actresses want to bring “a gripping story about fate, duty, heritage and an entire kingdom” to the stage, with magnificent costumes and a spectacular stage design, of course.
