Queen Mathilde: She sets an example for more sustainability

The subject of sustainability concerns everyone, and as the United Nations’ special envoy, Queen Mathilde sets a good example.

Jette – Queen Mathilde of Belgium (48) has been performing an important task for several years: in 2016 the monarch was appointed by the United Nations as a special ambassador for the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.

The 2030 Agenda, which was adopted by the member states of the UN in 2015, has 17 Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs for short, on the flag. These include measures for climate protection, health and well-being as well as sustainable consumption. The latter was also in the foreground at Mathilde’s appearance in the community of Jette.

Queen Mathilde visited the organic market “The Barn” *, which specializes in organic food and mainly sells unpackaged and regional products. “The Barn” also supports sustainable projects and gives smaller manufacturers a chance, as there are several branches in the capital, Brussels. Queen Mathilde first spoke to the founders and, at the side of an employee, took a closer look at the selection of the business. She promised to visit the market “in a more discreet way” later, but she was able to take home some products as a sample. * 24royal.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
