The Queen has moved into her summer residence in Balmoral.

At the official ceremony, which usually takes place every year, the monarch inspected the participating guards and, as an avowed horse fan, made the acquaintance of a Shetland pony belonging to the battalion, as the British news agency PA reported on Monday. Last year, the ceremony was canceled due to the corona pandemic.

During her summer vacation at Balmoral Castle, a royal residence in the Scottish Highlands, the Queen is usually visited by changing members of her family. For the first time this year, the 95-year-old is spending the summer weeks in the north without her husband Prince Philip. The Duke of Edinburgh had died in April at the age of 99. dpa
