Radiopolis appoints Luis Maldonado Palomares, former director of Grupo Televisa, as new CEO

Sistema Radiopolis, which has stations W Radio, W Deportes, Los 40 and La Ke Buena, reported that Luis Maldonado Palomares will serve as the new CEO starting this Wednesday, this as a decision of the company’s shareholders.

The election of the new general director of the radio company comes after Prisa Media, Corporativo Coral, a company owned by the Alemán family, Grupo Crédito Real and the entity Barrister Services reached an agreement on the control of Radiopolis.

Maldonado Palomares has served as Vice President of Finance and Administration of Sistema Radiopolis for more than 20 years. Previously, he was general director of business planning and analysis for Grupo Televisa; financial director of Sky (subsidiary of Grupo Televisa); corporate director of administration of Grupo Iusacell as well as vice president of Grupo ICI México.

The four entities agreed to coexist as shareholders of the radio station and renewed their commitment to grow the business, strengthening the network’s presence in the Mexican radio market.

Since Grupo Coral, owned by Miguel Alemán Magnani, completed the purchase of 50% of Grupo Televisa’s stake in Radiópolis in June 2020, a dispute began for control of the radio company.

According to Prisa and Corporativo Coral, he made a change to the members of the Board of Directors of Radiopolis and the company’s management, in addition to having transferred his shareholding to a trust, which led to litigation.

After transferring 50% of the participation of Radiópolis to the trust, it was transferred to the businessman Carlos Cabal Peniche and then to Crédito Real, who still holds said shares. During this time, the company operated without interruptions in its transmissions.
