For the first time, the Super Bowl halftime show is all about hip-hop, R&B and rap. The artists appearing next Sunday promise great things.

Los Angeles – Hip-hop superstars Snoop Dogg (50) and Dr. Dre (56) promised a highlight in the history of the football show spectacle before their appearance during the Super Bowl half-time break on Sunday (February 13, Monday night CET).

“We want to make sure everyone knows it’s going to be one of the best halftime shows ever,” said Dr. Dre at a press conference in Los Angeles. “We will show how professional and how great we can be on stage and how exciting we are for the fans.”

Show inspired by hip-hop, R&B and rap

The two musicians are to perform the halftime show in the football final between the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals together with Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar. For the first time, the show is all about hip-hop, R&B and rap. “This should have happened a long time ago,” said Dr. dr “It’s the biggest genre of music right now. It’s crazy that it took us so long to get recognized. We’re going to put on a show so nobody can look away.” Snoop Dogg added, “Hip-hop is here and nobody can change that.”

Every year, the Super Bowl is not only a huge sporting event, but also a music spectacle and a huge platform for the advertising industry. Around 100 million people in the US alone are watching the National Football League championship final live on television. In the past, stars like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince and the Rolling Stones have graced the halftime show stage. Canadian singer The Weeknd (“Blinding Lights”) performed last year, followed by Shakira and Jennifer Lopez the year before. dpa
