Red Bull and Alpine, to stewards after the Haas protest in Austin

Both Sergio Pérez and Fernando Alonso received damage to their respective cars during Sunday’s race at the 2022 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, and while the Mexican managed to finish fourth and the Spaniard was seventh, Haas lodged a protest against them.

The Red Bull driver lost part of the front wing in a touch on the first lap with Valtteri Bottas, and the Alpine driver, after his big accident with Lance Stroll, where he was blown up, managed to enter the pits to repair his car and cross the finish line in the points zone.

However, after the meeting, the local team filed a protest against both for the damage to the cars, something that is now being reviewed by the FIA stewards .

A representative of the North American team met with the stewards at 6:00 p.m. in Austin, and considering the protest admissible, a hearing will be held from 6:15 p.m. with the staff of the groups.

In several races this year, Haas cars have had to pit due to damage, receiving black and orange flags. That happened three times with the front wing of the VF-22, despite their insistence that it was safe to stay on track like this. Checo’s wing went slack after his contact with Bottas, but it wasn’t changed at the stop, and when Kevin Magnussen was asked about it, he replied: “That sucks, isn’t it?”

The Dane finished ninth with Haas thanks to a one-stop strategy, when he came in with the safety car, and made his medium tires last 38 laps: “At the end of the day, I have to say the team did a great job.” .

“We have achieved a one-stop strategy, which is very good, I could not have done it without the guidance and preparation that the team has given me, so I am very proud of them.”
