With that in mind, the Milton Keynes team announced this Friday that its new car for F1 2022 will be named RB18 , after in 2021 they decided to call the car that gave them glory RB16B, noting that it was an evolution of the model RB16 of 2020.
Thus, Red Bull skips the name of RB17 and goes directly to the RB18, which will debut the new rules and will have the ground effect that will characterize the new generation of single-seaters.
Why has 17 been avoided? Perhaps there is someone in Red Bull superstitious with heptacaidekaphobia, that ‘fear’ of number 17 that is known in some countries like Italy. The 17, moreover, is a number that cannot be used in Formula 1 because it is the one worn by Jules Bianchi and the FIA, as a tribute, withdrew it.
In the same announcement of the name of the car, Red Bull invited fans from all over the world to be part of the presentation, the exact date of which is still unknown, but which will take place during the month of February.
