Remy Gardner undergoes surgery after being injured in a motocross crash

Remy Gardner has been added to the list of riders injured during motocross training. The Australian rider, who is making his debut this season in the MotoGP category, suffered a fall this Saturday that caused a crack in his right wrist. He had to undergo surgery on Tuesday, attended by Dr. Xavier Mir , director of the hand surgery and microsurgery unit of the traumatology and orthopedic surgery service at the Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona.

“Following an incident during motocross training on Saturday, Remy sustained a small hairline fracture to his right wrist,” explained the Tech3 team on Tuesday night. “Dr. Mir operated on him and put in two screws. The operation was a success and our driver will start his recovery process on Friday. Get well soon, champion!”

Remy Gardner, current Moto2 world champion, joins the Tech3 team this year to make his MotoGP debut at the wheel of a KTM. The signing was announced last June, and he was then joined by Raúl Fernández, who was already his partner in 2021 in the intermediate category and who became his biggest rival for the title, in a duel that went to the last grand prize of the season

Gardner was able to discover the KTM RC16 in September participating with Raúl Fernández in the MotoGP test in Misano, but it was in Jerez, once the season was over, that he really began to adapt to his new bike. It was a somewhat painful introduction for him, because he had damaged his ribs shortly before. In spite of everything, he continued with his classic motocross preparation to arrive in the best prepared for the first tests.

On Friday he will begin his recovery from the operation, so he will have ten days to get in shape for his next test: he will participate in the Sepang shakedown , which will be attended by rookies, testers and owners of the only team that still enjoys concessions, Aprilia. This session will last three days and will be followed, on February 5 and 6, by the first collective pre-season test. There everything indicates that we will see Marc Márquez, also injured in enduro at the end of last October and whom we have not seen on the handlebars of his MotoGP since then.
