What happened in the FP2 of the Hungarian GP 2022 of F1?

The fight for the fastest time between Ferrari and Red Bull took center stage early in the session, with Sainz , Verstappen and Leclerc exchanging the top spot on medium tyres.

The Monegasque clocked a 1:18.911, almost half a second ahead of the Spaniard and 0.743 faster than the Dutchman.

All the drivers switched to the softer rubber halfway through FP2, and it was then that Norris set the fastest lap, an impressive 1m18.662s.

Quickly, Leclerc took the first position (1:18.445), while Sainz could only be third, 0.231s from first place. Verstappen was a little slower, finishing fourth, just ahead of the second McLaren, Daniel Ricciardo’s.

Leclerc reported a torque issue during his long run and entered the pits for the team to investigate.

On a largely uneventful day, Alex Albon spun his Williams at the first corner and was shown the only caution, but was able to return to the pits on his own.
