Rins: "The team I'm going to won't let me take anyone from Suzuki"

When Alex Rins arrived at Suzuki in 2017, he inherited the chief mechanic of Maverick Viñales in the Hamamatsu structure, José Manuel Cazeaux , with whom he has worked with very good results and harmony for five years and so far.

However, Suzuki’s announcement of leaving the MotoGP World Championship at the end of the season has caused the fifty employees of the Japanese structure in racing to start looking for the future in other teams. That has been the case of the Argentine coach, who during the weekend of the Catalan Grand Prix reached an agreement to join Aprilia next year.

This Saturday, the newspaper As revealed the information and, in addition, linked it to the future of Maverick Viñales , with whom he worked for two years at Suzuki, so everything indicates that the path of both, technician and pilot, will come together again in Noale’s garage.

Motorsport.com asked Alex Rins this afternoon about the matter, and if this type of information could make the team lose a little concentration.

“No, I believe a lot in my team and they are working well. It is true that Manu will possibly go to Aprilia next year. It is a shame, I have tried to take him to the new team that I am going to go to, but they told me that take anyone. Although I don’t think he really wants to go to the team I’m going to, so I haven’t fought much either. But that will be next year, now we’re in this one and we’re going to go full throttle until the end”, in reference to the LCR-Honda, which will be his next team, as already said.

In addition to Cazeaux, Rins has a team with which he has been working for years and with a great unity and harmony, and some would have liked to take them with him.

“Yes, we have made a very good family here at Suzuki and I would like to take one of the guys with me, but I also put myself in the place of the other team and I also understand that they do not want to break up a working group. In principle, what we have on the table is that they don’t let me take anyone from Suzuki, but I also understand it”.

Maverick does not confirm or deny

For his part, Maverick Viñales did not want to confirm the information about whether Cazeaux was going to be by his side again, this time in the Aprilia box.

“In particular I don’t know, but I would like to, it’s obvious. We are working very well with the team we have, but if Manu can be signed, something I haven’t talked about and I don’t know, it’s a top signing, from the best. Little by little all the pieces fit together, and we’ll see”.

On Cazeaux’s virtues, Maverick highlighted understanding.

“He understood me well, what I needed, that this is the most important thing, that the driver and the technician understand what is needed at all times”.

At this point, Maverick did not want to confirm anything since the signing of the coach has not yet been made official, but he did say “I am clear about it”, referring to the fact that if Cazeaux goes to Aprilia it will be to be with him, not to work. in the new RNF satellite structure that switches from Yamaha to Italian bikes in 2023.
