With a value of 1585.4, the seven-day incidence reaches a high again. The RKI records 198,888 new corona infections and 238 other deaths.

Berlin – The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has again reported a peak value for the nationwide seven-day incidence.

The RKI gave the value of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week as 1585.4. The previous day the value was 1543.0. A week ago, the nationwide incidence was 1293.6 (previous month: 1437.5).

The health authorities in Germany reported 198,888 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. Compared to the previous day, that was a good 100,000 more new infections (Monday: 92,378 new infections). This increase is due, among other things, to the fact that fewer tests are carried out at the weekend and the health authorities do not report any case numbers at the weekend. On Tuesday a week ago there were 156,799 new corona infections.

Experts assume a high number of cases that are not recorded in the RKI data. One reason is the limited capacity of health authorities, for example, and contacts are often only tracked to a limited extent.

17,432,617 infections detected

According to the new information, 238 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 324 deaths. The RKI has counted 17,432,617 proven infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections go undetected.

The number of corona-infected patients who came to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was 6.77 (Sunday: 7.07) according to the RKI on Monday. Among them are many people with a positive corona test who have another main illness.

The RKI gave the number of recovered people on Tuesday as 13,714,200. The number of people who died from or involved a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 3,592,600. dpa
