According to the new case numbers from the RKI, the incidence has increased slightly – from 83.1 to 84.3. The health authorities in Germany report 4,749 new corona infections to the institute within one day.

Berlin – The seven-day incidence of new corona infections has risen again. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Monday morning, it was 84.3 – the previous day the value was 83.1, a week ago it was 75.8.

The health authorities in Germany reported 4749 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. A week ago the value was 4559 infections.

According to the new information, 8 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 10 deaths. The RKI has counted 4,010,390 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.

The incidence of new infections has so far been the basis for many corona restrictions in the pandemic, for example as part of the federal emergency brake that expired at the end of June. In the future, other values such as the number of hospital admissions are to be taken more into account.

The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was last given by the RKI on Friday at 1.83 (previous day 1.74). A nationwide threshold value from when the situation can be viewed critically is not provided for the incidence of hospitalization, among other things because of large regional differences. The previous high was around 15.5 around Christmas time.

The seven-day incidence is calculated according to RKI information on the basis of the reporting date to the local health department. According to this, an average of about ten days elapse between an infection and hospitalization, so this value reflects the infection situation with a noticeable delay.

The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 3,775,500. The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 92,354. dpa
