Roger Federer did not hesitate to congratulate his friend Rafa Nadal , who after this victory against Daniil Medvedev became the best tennis player in history by winning 21 Grand Slams . The Swiss surrendered to the great comeback of the Spanish tennis player and dedicated some nice words to his rival all these years. But he was not the only one, since Novak Djokovic also sent a message congratulating the Spaniard.

“What a match! For my friend and great rival Rafa Nadal , congratulations on becoming the first male tennis player to win 21 Grand Slams », Roger Federer began writing in his profiles. The Swiss obviously praised the great final signed by the Mallorcan and Medvedev with the Balearic comeback included.

“A few months ago we joked that we already needed crutches to continue playing. It’s incredible,” he commented about Rafa Nadal before completely surrendering to the quality of the new Australian Open champion. “You should never underestimate a champion like him,” said Federer , making it clear that, despite his age, the Mallorcan is made of a different paste.

“Your incredible work ethic, dedication, and fighting spirit are a source of inspiration to me and so many others around the world,” he continued. “I am proud to share this era with you and honored to play a role in pushing you to achieve more, as you have done for me over these 18 years. I am sure that you will have more achievements ahead of you”, concluded Roger Federer.

On the other hand, Novak Djokovic , who could not participate in the Australian Open , also had nice words for both Rafa Nadal and Daniil Medvedev for the final they starred in. “Congratulations on your 21st Grand Slam . An incredible achievement,” the Serb wrote.

«It is always impressive the fighting spirit that prevailed again. Congratulations,” Novak Djokovic said. ” Medvedev gave it his all and played with the passion and determination expected of him,” he concluded.
