Valentino Rossi announced last August his retirement from MotoGP at the end of the season. The nine-time world champion will end 26 seasons in the World Cup. The one from Tavullia already said after the last Misano test that it would be his last day of rehearsals, since he has no intention of enrolling in a program as a tester or anything like that, although he left the door open to “shoot from time to time” .
One of the people who knows him best and who has accompanied him on circuits around the world for more than two decades has spoken about this idea, his assistant Alessio Salucci , also known as Uccio . The Italian assures that Rossi wants to continue riding with MotoGP and that I have already asked them to prepare a program.
“Vale has assured us that he will come often but, above all, he will continue to be a 100% athlete, training in the gym, riding with the guys from the Academy and at the Ranch. He also wants to race in MotoGP twice a year, and “He’s already told us to get the program started. Ducati or Yamaha ? It’s still early to tell. Four of the bikes are his, the others he has to order,” Uccio told La Gazzetta dello Sport .
“In some way, we will see him on the track again somewhere and in the future he will ride a MotoGP again in Misano, I am convinced.”
Rossi announced that he will go to four wheels – endurance and GT – as soon as he hangs up his helmet, although Uccio considers that for Rossi the cars will not be as exciting as MotoGP.
“I see him well, serene. I think he is a little afraid of not having the adrenaline of competition at the highest level. Racing in cars will be very good, but it is not F1. And he is made to race at the top”, Indian.
With only three races left to finish the season, the moment of retirement is approaching and both Uccio and Rossi want to get through this procedure as quickly as possible.
“The more the races go on, the more I turn off. I think Vale is going through the same situation as me. Sunday in Valencia will be very hard, you have to get through it as fast as possible. Run, cross the finish line and leave. Car, airport and that’s it,” he settled.
