Cologne – Because RTL reporter Susanna Ohlen apparently rubbed herself in with mud for more authenticity when reporting from the flood area, the broadcaster put the presenter on leave.
“Our reporter’s approach clearly contradicts journalistic principles and our own standards. We therefore gave her a leave of absence on Monday after we heard about it, “said an RTL spokeswoman. “Bild” and “tz” had previously reported.
Ohlen, who also moderates “Guten Morgen Deutschland”, was introduced in the RTL program as a woman who is actively involved in the clean-up work in Bad Münstereifel. Video recordings appeared on the Internet showing Ohlen being rubbed with mud. RTL considers these pictures taken from a house to be credible, but wants to get to the bottom of the allegations internally.

Ohlen himself now describes the action as a “serious mistake”. “That should never have happened to me as a journalist. As a person who cares about the suffering of all those affected, it happened to me. I beg your pardon, ”she wrote on Instagram.
