Russia considers it a "blasphemy" that he was not invited to the funeral of Elizabeth II

Russia said Thursday that the UK's decision not to invite any Russian representative to Queen Elizabeth II's funeral on Monday is "immoral" and constitutes "blasphemy" amid political tensions between the two countries.

"We believe that this British attempt to use a national tragedy, which has touched the hearts of millions of people around the world for geopolitical purposes to settle scores with our country, is deeply immoral," the spokeswoman for Russian diplomacy said in a statement. Maria Zajarova.

"It is particularly blasphemous regarding the memory of Elizabeth II," he added.

The spokeswoman regretted that the United Kingdom used, according to her, the offensive in Ukraine as a "pretext" for not inviting any Russian leader to the funeral of Elizabeth II, which will take place in London on September 19.

Not invited to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II

Neither Russia nor other countries such as Belarus, his ally, Burma or North Korea were invited to the funeral of the monarch, who died last Thursday at the age of 96.

"Now, the British elites are on the side" of the Nazis, Zajárova pointed out, referring to the significant military and financial support that the United Kingdom has given Ukraine against Russian military intervention.

More than 100 monarchs, heads of state and other personalities are expected to attend Elizabeth II's funeral at Westminster Abbey.

The absence of Russia is a sign that diplomatic relations between Moscow and London have been very tense for years.
