The sandstorm in Montana came out of nowhere, they say. It was already too late for many drivers on the highway to react appropriately. There were dead and injured.

Hardin – At least six people died in a pile-up caused by a sandstorm in the US state of Montana. The accident happened on Friday near the small town of Hardin, as reported by the regional newspaper “Billings Gazette” over the weekend.

Two minors are among the fatalities. Strong wind and poor visibility caused the accident, in which several people were injured. More than 20 vehicles were involved.

“As someone who was born here, who has worked with the Montana Highway Patrol for 24 years, I can tell you that this was no ordinary weather event,” the media quoted Interstate Patrol officer Jay Nelson as saying. “Suddenly you have zero vision.” There are then not many decisions that you can make as a driver that are good for you. Pictures from the scene of the accident showed several trucks and badly damaged cars. Debris was scattered, vehicles lay in the ditch beside the road. dpa
