Seat León, 20 years of success

0

Seat has celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Leon this fall. And it is that in 1999 the first generation of a model was launched that would end up becoming, with the passage of time, one of the most representative of the Catalan brand. Now, 20 years later, Seat is about to launch the fourth generation of the compact, with a renewed design but with the same DNA as always. Therefore, we want to review the trajectory of one of the main pillars of the company.

To date, Seat has sold more than two million units of the Leon . In fact, as a curiosity, we can assure that, put all of them in a straight line, they would occupy the same distance as the mythical Trans-Siberian train, that is, more than 9,000 kilometers. However, this is not the only achievement of the Lion. Best of all, it has surpassed these two million sales with steady growth throughout its three generations. Specifically, the current one already exceeds one million units sold. That is, almost twice as much as the first (which sold 534,797 vehicles), and a third more than the second (which sold 675,915 cars).

The current generation of the Leon , which was presented at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, has already been a great step forward for the Martorell brand in terms of design, quality, technology and connectivity. However, this fourth generation hopes to offer much more, with the aim of achieving – at least – the same success as the previous one.

New markets and the expansion of the range, with a family version and its various variants prepared to adapt to any type of customer , such as the León X-Perience, are key to explaining the acceleration of the Spanish compact. A boost similar to that experienced by Seat, which has increased its sales by 60% since 2010.
