The 2023 MotoGP World Championship will raise its curtain in Portimao with the Portuguese Grand Prix on March 24-26, this being the first time that the championship has been launched on European territory since 2006, when the Qatar event became the first of the course, a tradition that next year will be affected by the works carried out on the Doha route.

Before the start of the season, whose full schedule is not yet known, the MotoGP riders will enjoy two official test rounds, one in Malaysia and the other at the same Portimao circuit, Motorsport.com has learned.

The 2023 pre-season will kick off with the usual shakedown for test drivers and rookies between February 5 and 7, before the top class grid drivers get into action in the first official test, on 10, 11 and February 12, always at the Sepang circuit.

A month later, on March 11 and 12, the pre-season activity will return with a second and final MotoGP test in Portimao, which will then also host the official training sessions for the Moto2 and Moto3 categories.

The championship will start two weeks later, with the first race of the year, on March 26, in Portimao.
