Sergio Pérez wants to enjoy one of the best opportunities he has to win the Mexican Grand Prix when he competes with the Red Bull Racing RB18 in 2022 and, for this special occasion, he has presented an innovative helmet design.

The first thing that stands out is the disappearance of the phrase Never give up that has accompanied him for much of his career and that was a battle cry when he seemed to be left out of the Racing Point team at the end of the 2020 season. Instead, he will replace a ¡Viva México!

The second thing that stands out is the figure of a catrina on the front , which is accompanied around the Mexican flag, along with the traditional colors of Red Bull and the famous bull .

The catrina is part of the Day of the Dead festivities in the country, a date that is commemorated on November 1 and 2 throughout the national territory.

During a press conference in Mexico City, Sergio Pérez said that this design was prepared since August to have everything necessary ready.

“We have to close the design very early in the year because otherwise it’s not ready in time for all production, if we don’t have it ready in August it’s not ready.”

Speaking about his modifications, the Red Bull Racing driver said: “We are in my country and it is time to put a ¡Viva México!”

Pérez arrives at the Mexican Grand Prix as third in the drivers’ championship, behind Charles Leclerc, a Ferrari driver, in a race that he himself has said that he prefers to win rather than position himself as the second driver of the year’s classification.
