WhatsApp is the most popular messaging application in Spain, and around the world. We all use it daily to talk with our friends and family, although sometimes we do not know how to get the most out of the app. And, WhatsApp has some tricks that very few people know, such as protecting chats with a password . The goal is clear: that a person can pick up our phone and read the conversations.
It is not a new trick, but rather little known and, therefore, little used by users. Putting it into practice is the easiest thing in the world and, in addition, we do not need to download a third-party application. We simply have to access the WhatsApp settings and follow the following steps :
- We open the app and access the settings menu by clicking on the three dots in the upper right corner on Android or the gear symbol on iOS.
- We select «Settings», «Account» and «Privacy».
- At the bottom is the “Screen lock” option. Press to activate it and configure access to the application we want (facial recognition, access code or fingerprint reader) and the period of time it takes for the lock to activate (immediately, after one minute, after 15 minutes or after an hour).
In order to do this password trick we must have the most recent version of WhatsApp and, if not, update the application. We must bear in mind that if we activate any of these options, every time we want to enter WhatsApp, we must unlock the application.

One of the novelties that will come very soon to the instant messaging app are the reactions , in the same way as Facebook. A very useful function to send a quick reply to a message by way of emotion.
In addition, as revealed by the WABetaInfo portal, WhatsApp will allow us to hide the time of the last connection to selected contacts . With this new feature, we will be able to choose that all our contacts see our time of the last connection by default and at the same time establish exceptions for some contacts, without having to hide this information from everyone.
