Markus Söder has done it again. With his latest social media post, he caused a lot of discussion on the net. And by the way, he came out as a nerd.
Munich – When Bavaria’s Prime Minister does something, he does it right. He is a team player with full dedication. First “Team Caution”, then “Team Awareness” and later “Team Relaxation”. The CSU boss may change his teams faster than his coffee cups. And that’s exactly the right keyword. Because in addition to his passion for collecting team memberships, he is also a fan of the motif drinking vessels. Markus Söder* (CSU) now clearly demonstrates this in his most recent social media post.
Söder can’t decide which cup he takes and lets the fans decide
He has never made a secret of the fact that Söder is a sci-fi and fantasy fan*. In modern German one would say he is a nerd. But since the country manager can rarely go to appointments with a Marvel or Star Wars t-shirt, he has found another way to live out his passion. He now owns an impressive collection of fan merchandise in the form of mugs. These include Marvel heroes such as Thor and Captain America as well as motifs from Spock, Darth Vader and Marty McFly. With so much porcelain, his fans can only think of one thing: “He never has all the cups in the cupboard.”
With great choice follows great difficulty in making decisions to use a crooked spiderman quote and keep in context. Söder is actually spoiled for choice. A total of eleven cups can be seen in his photo. So he rightly writes under his post: “Meetings in Munich today: Which cup should it be?” He also explains to his followers that he has been a big fan of the Marvel Comics about Iron Man and Captain America since childhood. A fan immediately thinks of something. “Ah. That’s where it comes from?! Now you’re Captain Bavaria!”
Söder’s cup collection: fans have a clear favourite
As the last sentence under his post, Bavaria’s Prime Minister writes: “The cups are definitely an eye-catcher – often also for people to talk to in my office.” But not only his guests seem to be busy discussing his collection. A veritable war of comments has broken out online as to which is the best mug in Söder’s collection. Leading the way is Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. But the classics are also trendy. Many fans like the Star Trek pot with Spock and Kirk* or the “Back to the Future” mug.
However, the fan vote resulted in neither a fantasy nor a sci-fi cup. An overwhelming proportion of followers prefer the “Everything will be fine!” mug. “The mug, everything will be fine, fits very well” and “I like the EVERYTHING WILL BE GOOD best” is what it says in the comments.
A few actually have nothing to do with Söder’s passion for collecting. A follower comments: “Slowly I’m wondering … Is there nothing more important than posting a cup every few days.” Another commenter asks the question: “Does your social media team have nothing to do?” But it doesn’t matter if you do now whether or not he can relate to the spleen of the CSU boss, he is definitely right with one statement.
