Sony descontinúa la producción de PS3 en Japón de manera oficial

Despite the fact that the plans for the cessation of production of PlayStation 3 had been known since last March, its inevitable cessation of production in Japan has been announced from the official Sony website. In other words: from this month the availability of the console itself will be relieved from the available stock , at least in Japan.

After a difficult start, partly due to a very unsightly starting price, PS3 managed to overcome the barrier of 80 million consoles sold worldwide, being also one of the most prolific and long-lived consoles of the last generation.

Now, it must be recognized that these last two months have been especially interesting for Sony’s seventh generation desktop thanks to recent and especially interesting titles of the caliber of ‘Persona 5’ and ‘Guilty Gear Xrd. Rev 2 ‘. In fact, there are still pending projects and that will arrive during the second half of this year as ‘PES 2018’.

Announced in 2005, the PS3 was originally released a year later in Japan. Of course, it would not be until March 2007 that it would reach PAL territories where it ended up settling with some ease with three hardware revisions that made it increasingly compact.

Titles and sagas such as ‘Uncharted’, ‘The Last of Us’ or ‘Ni No Kuni’ were forged exclusively for their Blu-Ray readers along with the best sellers that defined the past generation as ‘Assassin’s Creed’, ‘Bioshock’ or ‘Mass Effect’ and that are still present for the future of the company. Nothing may be forever, but its playable legacy will take a long time to erase.
