Space Perspective presents a luxury capsule to travel to space

Welcome to a new journey into space. This time it comes from the hand of Space Perspective that has presented the final design of its capsule named SpaceShip Neptune.

Up to eight passengers at a time will be able to enjoy panoramic views of Earth while reclining in oversized seats and sipping cocktails. It is a luxury trip to space with a cost of 125,000 dollars per person (about 122,000 euros in exchange).

A luxury hotel in space

The company, based at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, revealed an illustration of the interior of its cabin and the final design of the spacecraft that will arrive in space by balloon. Inside Neptune’s pressurized capsule is an impressive “Space Lounge” designed to be safe and luxurious with 360-degree views of Earth.

Beneath the base of the cockpit compartment is a splashdown cone, making the bottom of the compartment an inverted cone shape that enters the water with minimal turbulence. That way, the end of the flight will be as smooth as the rest of the journey. When fully expanded, the silver globe reaches a volume large enough to engulf an entire football stadium.

New images released show the latest patented capsule design for its Spaceship Neptune ship with a more spacious interior than previous iterations, with a spherical capsule design that offers travelers more height, as well as adding the safety benefit of being optimal. for pressure resistance. It also has reclining seats, ambient lighting and a well-stocked bar. Reflective-coated windows, similar to an astronaut’s helmet, have been fitted to help maintain a good temperature, while a new thermal control system is patent pending.

“Centuries of balloon and parachute development and operation demonstrate that always flying the balloon from launch to landing, with traditional parachutes as a backup backup system, is by far the simplest, safest and most robust solution,” he said. Taber MacCallum, founder, co-CEO and CTO of Space Perspective, in a statement.

Other improvements include a patent-pending splash cone for a smooth, safe landing in the sea. And in terms of scale, the company compares the capsule to the size of “a large balcony stateroom on a cruise ship.”

The new design is the product of “thousands of in-depth analyses” carried out in collaboration with a software company called Siemens Digital Industries. Space Perspective’s offering is the latest in the ongoing space tourism effort, with a few key differences from rivals Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic.

“Our proprietary flight system means the capsule and SpaceBalloon always stay connected, and takeoff and landing conditions are always under our control. The team has come together to create an amazingly robust, safe and incredibly stylish and luxurious system for Spaceship Neptune.”

Space Perspectiv e is privately funded and has raised a total of $65 million in two rounds since November 2021.
