Spectacular NASA photo shows three galaxies colliding with each other

NASA’s space telescope has managed to take a picture of three colliding galaxies. However, this does not only result in destruction.

Washington, DC – The US space agency NASA recently released a photo that testifies to the mighty and beautiful grandeur. A formation of three galaxies can be seen – created by a collision and a subsequent merger. The Hubble Telescope image can be viewed on NASA’s website.

The space collision occurred about 681,000,000 light-years away, reports Business Insider. It is not uncommon for galaxies to collide. Again and again they come too close to each other in the cosmic structure. According to geo.de, the formation of the sun and its planets could be explained by the interaction of two galaxies.

Collision does not only have destructive sides

Scientists assume that our Milky Way is also about to collide with another galaxy. However, only in about five billion years. Such a collision, while massive, cannot be considered destructive per se.

Stars often emerge from their merging. Because galaxies are mostly empty space, they can often move side by side and even through other galaxies – without colliding. Compressed gas clouds are created by the material exchange of the galaxies. These later develop into new stars – caused by star explosions. With the help of such mergers, researchers want to find out more about the formation and history of the Milky Way. It may have swallowed many other galaxies over time to get to its current state. *FR is an offer from IPPEN.Media.
