Storms in Germany: Floods threaten – experts warn of "Tief Roland"

New storms are approaching Germany: Several regions are affected. Floods can occur there again.

Frankfurt – Summer temperatures are followed by storms in Germany on Tuesday. In addition to thunderstorms, there is also a threat of heavy rain in numerous regions, which can result in flooding. The German Weather Service anticipates the storms from “later in the afternoon”.

According to the DWD forecast, 20 liters of rain per square meter have been announced. Other experts, such as the meteorologist Dominik Jung, are counting on more water: “Floods” that are “very regionally limited” are therefore possible. The weather service “The Weather Channel”, for example, assumes 35 liters per square meter.

Storm in Germany: “Tief Roland” brings heavy rain

The thunderstorms and heavy rain are likely to hit the western half of Germany in particular. “From the Eifel to the Black Forest and the Swabian Alb”, several areas are in focus, the German Weather Service continues. According to the experts, the rainy weather should drag on into the night on Wednesday (15.09.2021).

Then “Tief Roland”, as experts call the phenomenon, should expand to the whole of Germany. The weather situation should therefore continue until Thursday (September 16, 2021) before it should move east on Friday. (do)
