As a streaming channel seeking the largest catalog of entertainment on the market, Netflix produces varied content that attempts to span multiple genres. In this way, it is committed to buying and making animes, comedies, sports documentaries, thrillers or pure action movies. With the announcement of the trailer for Fear Streets, the company immerses itself in the slasher subgenre, a variant of the horror genre in which normally students (who always separate to die together) try to survive a murderous figure masked or with a face emaciated. Inherited from the Italian giallo subgenre of representatives such as Dario Argento, the golden age of the Slasher arrived in the 80s with titles such as A Nightmare on Elm Street or Friday the 13th and was popularized in the 90s with Scream and I know what you did last summer. Fear Street is based on the novels of the same name by RL Stine, in which a group of teenagers discover that their city has been haunted for generations. The first will be released on July 2 and the other two the same month; 9 and 16 respectively. The strange thing about Netflix’s bet is to release a trilogy in the same month.
