Suspicious messages on WhatsApp? Profeco and Meta join for "secure networks"

0

WhatsApp has become one more way through which cybercriminals try to fraud users. This has promoted measures such as the “Safe Networks” campaign jointly carried out by Meta and the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco).

The agency pointed out that if users receive suspicious messages they can report them directly from the app.

The second stage of this campaign consists of making visual materials available to consumers so that they learn how to add layers of security to the configuration of their accounts; as well as for them to know in detail the tools that exist within the application, which allow them to block or report malicious content.

How to report a contact

  • Go to the suspicious conversation and select the settings, identified as the three dots on the top right.
  • In the menu that appears, select the “More” option.
  • Choose the “Report” option

Once this process is done, WhatsApp will show you a confirmation message to make sure that you really want to report the contact.

If you block it and delete the chat, the messages will be deleted from your device and the attachments to the account. The contact will not be notified about this.

You can also block the suspicious number, with it they will no longer be able to contact you through the application. Also, you can unlock it at any time.
