Talking by videoconference avoids the emission of tons of CO2

The audio, web and video conferences held in 2011 prevented the emission into the atmosphere of more than 800,000 tons of CO 2 compared to if the same meetings had been held in person, according to a study carried out by the Arkadin company.

However, the general director of Arkadin Spain, Fernando de Águeda, has said that Spain continues not to take advantage of these benefits. And in this sense, he stressed that measuring the impact of a business trip is easy and that the technology to avoid these emissions exists. For this reason, he proposes to replace physical meetings with audio, video and web conferences.

The report recalls that the sustained increase in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions will cause an increase of two degrees Celsius by 2052 and 2.8 degrees Celsius by 2080 and adds that GHG emissions grew by 2.4 percent. percent in 2010 due to economic recovery in several European countries, according to recent data from the European Environment Agency.
