Although the new generation of Formula 1 cars produce much more downforce due to the ground effect created through their wings, that hasn’t stopped teams from making changes to their designs for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix. week.

This is how the teams have adapted the front and rear wings of their cars for Monza:

The spoiler in front of Mercedess for the Italian GP at Monza

At the front of the W13, Mercedes has lowered the upper wing to better match the low levels of downforce from its rear wing.

To help further reduce downforce and drag, Mercedes has a much flatter and simplified rear wing.

Red Bull’s front spoiler for the Italian GP at Monza

Red Bull has modified the low-downforce rear wing they had previously used to reduce downforce and drag.

The spoiler in front of Ferrarii for the Italian GP at Monza

Ferrari has introduced a single element beam wing to suit the characteristics of the Monza track. That item was originally tested in Belgium during free practice, but was not used in qualifying or run.

McLaren have fitted a revised, shorter front wing to help better balance the car in its least drag configuration.

That also works thanks to the smaller rear wing flap that will also be fitted to the cars of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo in Italy.

Alpinee’s front spoiler for the Italian GP at Monza

Alpine has chosen to remove the flap known as ‘Gurney’ on its beam wing, in order to reduce drag on its rear wing and consequently the car in general.

The spoiler in front of Aston Martin for the Italian GP at Monza

Aston Martin Racing has introduced a new front wing wing that reduces the extension of the final element of the wing.

The Silverstone -based team has also brought back its shorter, more aggressive rear wing that it already brought to Belgium but that neither Lance Stroll nor Sebastian Vettel ever used.

Williams will use a smaller single element beam wing, which they also took to the Belgian Grand Prix, although it too was not used.
