During the pandemic, Mexico has had a “lifeline” with technology, however the development of this industry also generates challenges in terms of cybersecurity, for which the Ministry of Economy has worked to be able to digitize micro, small and medium-sized companies (MSMEs), said this Thursday, Tatiana Clouthier, Secretary of the Economy.

The work on digitization was done working with many companies, including Microsoft, the official said during her participation in the North Capital Forum held in Mexico City.

Clouthier recalled that the issue of cybersecurity is in various trade agreements that Mexico has signed, including the T-MEC.

He added that together with the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) training work was done to improve the skills of the workforce in Mexico.

Clouthier recalled that the Ministry of Economy has digital platforms aimed at exports, investment and other commercial disciplines.

When touching on the issue of sustainability, he commented that the country is working to implement the circular economy and electromobility.

He added that better water management must also be achieved, as well as clean energy projects, such as what has been done in Sonora, where there will be more than 2 million solar panels in Puerto Peñasco.

Secretary Clouthier recalled that the country also has support and financing programs for companies led by women. She highlighted that there is a pilot program in which 12 companies participate, of which she did not give the name, to train more women who work at all levels of the company, including in areas responsible for decision-making.
